Sara Inácio

Lisbon, 1977.

Sculptor, researcher, cultural mediator and art educator.


PhD student in Fine Arts - Sculpture, at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. Her thesis (practical-theoretical) establishes links between the practice of Sculpture with Community and Inner Sustainability.


Author of sculptures in public spaces: 

A Caminho da Luz  (Sintra, 2008); 

Nem só de Pão Vive o Homem (Mértola, 2005); 

Comunicação (Montijo, 2003). 


Solo and group exhibitions in Portugal, Spain and Italy since 1999. 

Through her work (in raw earth, ceramics, land art, drawing and participatory projects) she explores the ecological, social and spiritual dimensions of artistic practice.


Author of essays, articles and conferences. 


Author of courses  (Heart Lines - contemplative drawing; Form and Silence - ceramic sculpture and meditation) which are a synthesis between artistic creation, meditation and ancestral practices of deep ecology, with the aim of providing spaces for human beings to connect with themselves, with others and with the Earth.

 

Artistic educator and cultural mediator in the Educational Services of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum (from 2003 to the present day), the National Museum of Ancient Art (2005-2007) and the Orient Museum (2007-2009), all in Lisbon, where she develops educational projects for different ages - schoolchildren (from pre-school to university), senior citizens and families. 


In 2002, she co-founded Nextart- Centro de Formação Artística, an independent school in Lisbon whose driving principle was the fusion between teaching different artistic languages and human development practices. Until 2019, she taught Ceramic Sculpture, Drawing, Meditative Ceramics and Land Art.


Master's degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (2016). Degree in Plastic Arts-Sculpture from the same Faculty (2002). Erasmus scholar at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Athens, Greece (2000). Further artistic training at Ar.Co, Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes de Lisboa and Associação de Arte e Comunicação Oficinas do Convento. 



In 1996 she had her first contact with Yoga and the art of Meditation. Since then she has deepened these practices with the guidance of various teachers and masters. 

In her vision, artistic creation is a spiritual practice, Meditation in Action - a path to Consciousness and Self-Knowledge, Inner Transformation, Sharing and Giving. Creating is an exercise of Presence, a poetic act.

 Art allows the manifestation of Beauty and the creation of Communities in Harmony and Connection with the Earth, with Sacred Life.
